1. Start on a VPS (Virtual Private Server) - your agent runs in an isolated environment, not on your main machine or network. This is the safest default.
2. Use a dedicated device if possible - an old laptop, Mac Mini, or Chromebook dedicated to the agent keeps it fully sandboxed from your personal and business systems.
3. Don't hand over the keys on day one - we recommend your agent starts with its own email address, its own social accounts, and its own tools. No access to your personal email, bank account, or core business credentials until you've built confidence in how it operates.

Trust is earned - and that applies to AI too. The goal is to give your agent exactly what it needs to do its job, nothing more, and expand access as it proves itself.

A VPS (Virtual Private Server) is a remote server you rent by the month - typically -/mo from providers like DigitalOcean, Vultr, or Hetzner. Your AI agent lives and runs on that server, completely separate from your personal computer and business network. If anything goes wrong, it's contained. It also means your agent runs 24/7 even when your laptop is off.

It depends on the job. For customer support, it needs read access to your helpdesk (Gorgias, etc.) and permission to reply. For email flows, it needs Klaviyo access. We scope every integration to minimum required permissions - read-only where possible, write access only for the specific actions it needs to perform. We document every access point so you always know what your agent can and can't touch.

You're always in control. Access can be revoked at any time from your Shopify admin, Klaviyo settings, or wherever the integration lives. We also maintain a log of all agent actions so you can audit what happened and when. There are no lock-ins - you own the access, you control the keys.
